ARTS CENTER: Summer is a time for art camps

(Moultrie, GA) – United Way Fine Art Camps - Celebrate the Arts with Instructor Kathy Nelson
will begin June 3rd. Our Fine Arts Camps are packed with fun and challenging activities that encourage creativity and growth for a lifetime. Campers will explore a variety of mediums such as graphite, paint, pastels, charcoal, sculptural materials, found objects, and much more. Each week includes art instruction, hand-building in clay, dance & drama, and a visiting guest artist. The Arts Center partners with the Moultrie Recreation Department to offer campers pool time once a week. On Friday from 1 pm to 2 pm, campers will perform their group dance & drama piece and display their works of art in a gallery style setting. We welcome families and friends to attend the Friday events. Camps include morning and afternoon instruction in art, music, dance, and theater. All camps work with pottery. Students will swim at the Rec. Dept. pool one day per week. Breakfast and lunch are provided but please bring a snack each day!

Early Arrival for Breakfast is at 7:45 am and pickup each day is at 5:30 PM.
Breakfast and lunch are included. Campers must have completed 2nd grade thru completed 5th grade. Cost: $85 for the first child, $75 for additional sibling or additional weeks

June 3-7 Drawing and Elements of Design
: Campers will be guided step by step through the process of drawing by creating and exploring line, four basic shapes, shadowing, composition, color, perspective, still life, as well as clay building.

June 10-14 Pop of Color
: Campers will be introduced to color theory and all aspects of color combinations and mixing of colors through painting and collage.

June 17-21 Paint Your Heart Out
: Campers will explore abstract, realist, and non-objective art. They will work with portraits, landscapes, and still life paintings on paper and canvas.

June 24-28 Be the Designer: 
Campers will explore design techniques and will design their own fabric and miniature furniture.

July 8-12 Build it Grand!
: Campers will explore historical and modern architecture and will build their own structures.

July 15-19 3D Sculpture: 
Campers will explore various media in sculpture. They will create sculptures in ceramics and paper mache with some surprise materials too!

July 22-26 Famous Artists
: Campers will explore three artists and their respective styles and periods. Campers will create works of art based on the three artists’ famous paintings.

July 29-August 2 Copper and Glass: 
Campers will explore copper and glass through creating pieces of art using the materials. Campers may create jewelry, ornaments, sun catchers, or other fun items.

For students not looking for a full time camp experience Instructor Katie Aufenthie is offering an opportunity to explore music, dance, theatre, art, and more with fun activities to develop your child's creative potential and connect with the world around them. Students must bring their own lunch each day.

Yoga with Kids May 28th - 31st 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Ages 5 – 11 $60
: Yoga is no longer just for adults! This camp will incorporate movement and fun with team building exercises and games. Children will have time to be very silly and creative while creating skits and dances based on traditional yoga moves. They will also explore breathing exercises that help with focus, concentration, and relaxation. To remind them of what they learned, they will make necklaces and be able to incorporate their new skills into other areas of their life. This camp is not just a fun physical activity, but also one of self exploration and love.

Art in Nature June 3rd - 7th 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Ages 6 -10 $75: 
Explore the beautiful outdoors! Children will learn to make rain sticks, self portraits, and small structures using the materials they find in their outdoor surroundings. Along with creating beautiful artwork, they will learn about the foliage and the tiny creatures hiding in their native town. This camp will include light hiking, exploration, creating, and even story telling. They will leave feeling connected to their inner artist and even more to the world around them.

Disney Camp June 8th - 12th 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Ages 5 – 15 $85: 
Sing and dance to your favorite Disney tunes. Become the prince or princess in a skit and perform on Friday in front of family and friends. This camp will include 4 days of practice and rehearsal.

For our younger students Instructor Leah Gaines is back for four weeks of camp for ages 3-8. Campers will meet Monday through Friday: 10 am - 2 pm. The fee per student is $100. Each week will end with an Art Show and small performance! Campers must be potty trained. Please send a sack lunch with your child each day. Please register no later than Thursday before the camp of your choice.

June 10-14 What a Colorful World: 
Students will explore a world full of color, how colors interact, and ways to alter colors. Enjoy sculpting, drawing, and painting using a variety of mediums.

June 24-28 Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: 
It’s all about girls this week. Come enjoy a variety of projects with a wide range of mediums, and of course lots of glitter! Whether your little girl is a princess, fairy, girl scout, or sports star at heart there’s something just for her this week!

July 8-12 I’m Famous!
: Move over Van Gogh.....art kids are here! This week is for everyone. Each day we will learn about a different artist and the techniques they are most famous for. You may be surprised what
your little artist can do, when we try these techniques ourselves.

July 22-26 He-Man Club, No girls Allowed: Let’s get moving! From clay to slime, paint and dyes, your boys will not want to miss this! Enjoy a week of artistic creation inspired by motion. Learn how to draw and paint things as if they are moving. A different project every day.
Deadline to sign up: Thursday, July 12

Be The Artist Teen Camp is being offered by artist and Instructor Kim Yarbrough June 17th – 21st for Students ages 12-18 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm each day. $100 includes all supplies. Teens will explore various artists and painting media in this outside the box experience. Each day, students will learn about design and will create original paintings using acrylic and latex paint, charcoal, paper, fabric, found objects, and other items.

Mermaid Dance Camp will include Dance, crafts, games and more!
This one day experience is offered by Instructor Lovedy Griner on Saturday, July 13th from 10:00 am – 11:30 am for 3-6 Years Old and 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm for 7-9 Years Old . Each session is $30 per student.

Open Studio

Adults looking for a summer experience can drop in anytime during open Studio Hours to work on your masterpiece! Just let us know what time you will attend by pre-registering with our online form available. This is to make sure we have enough supplies for participants. Open Studio will make supplies available to everyone in the community who attends. Students will choose their medium and will work on visual art projects of their choosing. People will be able to share experiences, talents, and stories as community members get to know one another.
 Made possible by a grant from the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities, 
OPEN STUDIO is open to student sages Age 16+ and although it is free, all participants *MUST PRE-REGISTER*. Upcoming Dates: Tuesday, May 28th at 4 pm - 7pm and Thursday, June 13th 4 pm - 7pm
