Living in a rural area has it challenges, including transportation and the small number of jobs available. This presentation will offer tips on how to develop jobs in rural areas. Webinar Objectives:By attending this webinar you will learn about:

  • Recognizing the growing employment disparity for rural Americans with disabilities and what can we do to positively impact it;
  • Addressing the challenges and opportunities of job development in rural areas - focusing on issues such as poor economies, transportation barriers, and community inclusion as a pathway to jobs; and
  • Understanding the role technology can play in successful employment outcomes

The GCDD hosts and sponsors multiple events throughout the year. The events are defined by the agency’s five year strategic plan and legislative agenda. The events, five year strategic plan and legislative agenda are aligned with the agency’s signature program, "The Real Communities Initiative” and its five focus areas: Real Careers, Real Homes, Real Learning, Real Influence and Real Supports.

GCDD welcomes and encourages submissions of events to our online calendar. Information is added to the GCDD Calendar weekly. Please follow the guidelines below when providing information:

To ensure consideration, information should be submitted no later than three weeks before the start of the event. 
Submissions are posted at the sole discretion of the GCDD Public Information Director and as space / time allow.
The person(s) submitting information to the GCDD calendar is responsible for the content and accuracy of his or her submission(s).
Postings cannot include any material contrary to the mission of GCDD.

Additional information about an event may be supplied through URL links, but detailed contact information that includes a name, phone number and email address is also required in the event clarification is needed for a submission.
