Legislators rely on their constituents (that's you!) to help them understand the impact of proposed and signed legislation. Because of this, parents of individuals with disabilities and the individuals themselves are their own most effective advocates. Join Patricia Nobbie, Deputy Director, Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) and Leslie Hale, Master's in Public Administration candidate at UGA and intern at GCDD, as they provide an overview of Georgia's policy process and explain how parents and individuals can effectively communicate with their state legislators, particularly through the use of personal stories. It might seem daunting at first, but armed with a few key tips, you can become a force for positive change on behalf of yourself, your loved ones, and individuals with disabilities all over the state of Georgia. Title: Taking It Personally: Understanding the legislative process in GA & advocating effectively on behalf of yourself & loved ones.
