Two Chances to Weigh in on Post-Secondary Education

For people subscribed to the GCDD- Capitol Impact e-mail distribution, this news has already landed in your in-box. For all others, here is a recap from two previous e-alerts both having to do with advanced education. One opportunity is a chance to participate in a survey collecting feedback pertaining to post-high educational opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The second opportunity is to attend meetings and dialogue with disability advocates today in Kennesaw and later this month in Gainesville and Valdosta:

Georgia State University
CENTER FOR LEADERSHIP IN DISABILITY
Georgia Inclusive Post-secondary Education Survey

The Georgia Inclusive Post-Secondary Education Consortium is creating the chance for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to go to college. Many students grow up expecting to go to a college, university, or technical school after high school. We call these post-secondary educational options. But, students with IDD have historically been told not to even consider it.
We are asking you to complete a survey that will help us understand your thoughts surrounding and the development of post-secondary education options in Georgia. We want to be sure that this survey reflects the opinions and experiences of parents and family members of students with IDD in Georgia.

The survey can be found at https://www.research.net/s/GeorgiaPSEsurvey.

Survey Opens: October 1, 2012
Survey Closes: October 30, 2012
