ATLANTA, GA. (April 18, 2007)— What's on the minds of people who live with disabilities and their families, neighbors and friends in your community? Did you know that nationally one out of five children, adults and elderly are directly impacted by disability and this population is the fastest growing segment of our society? Are you versed in the issues?

Local media representatives are invited to a media roundtable discussion and luncheon sponsored by the Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Governor's Council On Developmental Disabilities (GCDD), Wednesday, April 18, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, at the Railroad Depot – The Community Room, 317 Plant Avenue, Waycross, GA. "The Missing Pages of Your Style Book" is a media round table briefing and luncheon designed for news and editorial directors, reporters and other media professionals to connect them to a wide range of topical story angles and to discuss editorial perspectives on responsible portrayals of persons with disabilities in news coverage.

In addition, GCDD will hold a public forum for Waycross-Ware County area residents and civic leaders, as well as the media, to join their neighbors with disabilities to share ideas about improving social services and public policy in the community, Thursday, April 19, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at the Community Room at Memorial Stadium – at the corner of Harrison Street and Knight Avenue.

Robin Blackard Executive Director of the Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce remarked, "the Chamber is delighted to assist GCDD in sharing the stories of our neighbors who live with disabilities and we at the Chamber urge the press to come and get involved in the discussion on Wednesday. We also encourage the media to cover the public forum on Thursday."
