Making a Difference - Fall 2021
GCDD's Fall edition of Making a Difference quarterly magazine focuses on the economic impact on employment for workers with disabilities in the aftermath of the pandemic in its feature article, "State of Employment: How Shifts in the Economy Impacted Job Seekers with Disabilities."
A new series, "Living Independently," will discuss self-direction as a model of long-term care service delivery that prioritizes participant choice, control and flexibility.
Read about GCDD's meetings with legislators across Georgia in preparation for the 2022 Legislative Session in Public Policy for the People. In "Expert Update," Amy Gonzalez of the National Disability Employment Technical Assistance Center talks about the ways competitive, integrated employment is becoming a reality for people with disabilities, why employers need to get on board, and what individuals and family members can do to make sure employment comes first.
And, "What's Happening in Washington?" breaks down the work of US Congress on major investments in COVID recovery, infrastructure development, and expansion of Medicaid-funded home and community-based services. Plus, more regular features, including the Welcoming Community Movement, storytelling, self-advocacy and inclusive post-secondary education.
