About GCDD

The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) is the state's leader in advancing public policy on behalf of persons with developmental disabilities (DD). We are a federally funded, independent state agency that works with legislators and advocacy groups to influence and support public policy that fosters a positive change in the way education, housing, workplace/careers and community living opportunities are made available to people with DD.

The Council

Our activities are governed by a 28-member board, called The Council, comprised of at least 60 percent individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) and family members. Other members include policymakers that represent various agencies and organizations having a vested interest in people with DD.

Five Year Strategic Plan

The Five Year Strategic Plan determines how GCDD will allocate funding to create systems change for individuals with developmental disabilities through advocacy and capacity building activities.

GCDD Meetings

The Council meets quarterly to learn what is happening in Georgia and around the nation for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Members spend time discussing best or promising practices, hearing from projects funded by GCDD, and conducting business to be an effective and efficient organization.

DD Network

DD Network

The DD Network consists of three partners in each state and territory authorized under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (the DD Act) and administered by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD).
