GCDD NOW/COMP Waivers Advocacy Day

Description

Join the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities for their NOW/COMP waiver Advocacy Day.

Advocacy Days are a great chance for people in Georgia's developmental disabilities (DD) community to talk directly with state leaders. GCDD staff and volunteers help attendees speak up about issues that matter to the DD community. Advocacy Days work well for both first-time advocates and experienced ones who want to make a real difference in Georgia's policies for people with DD.

Each Advocacy Day focuses on one important topic for the DD community. Join us for our first Advocacy Day of the year on January 28, 2026. This day will focus on NOW/COMP waivers. Participants will meet with GCDD staff and volunteers to learn about these Medicaid waivers and why they help people. They will also talk about why we need more money to help the nearly 8,000 Georgians waiting to get a waiver. After this session, participants will visit the Georgia State Capitol to talk with their legislators in person.

Advocacy Days support GCDD's main goal: to create changes in society and government that give people with DD and their families better opportunities to live, learn, work, play, and worship in Georgia communities.
