New People First Officers & Self Advocacy Month is February

GCDD would like to recognize and congratulate the newly elected People First Officers: Marian Jackson, President; Renita Bundrage, Vice President; Amanda Alford, Secretary; and Bernard Baker, Treasurer.

February is Self Advocacy Month!  People First of Georgia is inviting anyone who is interested in becoming a self advocate to attend the People First of Georgia Conference Call on January 28, 2011.  Prior to the call, People First of Georgia encourages participants to make an appointment with their state legislators and advocate for what they are passionate about. In advance of the People First Phone Conference on Jan 28, (see on conference call info below) handouts will be posted on the People First website (http://www.peoplefirstofga.com/) that can be downloaded for reference. The handouts will be on many different subjects. Conference topics will include, but are not limited to, funding for services, public transportation and the Home Access Bill. The goal is to organize, educate and empower individuals in order to address to state legislators.  People First will also discuss how you can get involved, by joining a chapter, starting a new chapter or acquiring funding.  Anyone interested is invited to participate.  The call will take place on January 28, 2011 at 4PM.  Call 1-888-394-8197 and use Passcode: 940938#.
